Working casita fire reported in the 7900 block of East Gainey Ranch Road in Scottsdale, AZ.

[Update: 3/16/2015 at 12:07 AM MST] Scottsdale Fire Department officials tell us that SFD crews responded to a residential structure fire at 7878 East Gainey Ranch Rd. Unit 62. The first arriving engine company found a working fire in a small casita attached to the main home. The residents were evacuated. Firefighters extinguished the fire in the walls around the fireplace of the casita. There were no injuries to the occupants of the home and/or firefighters.
The Scottsdale Fire Department wants to remind all homeowners to have working smoke detectors and to check the batteries every six months.
