Injury Accident Involving Pedestrian - Scottsdale Rd & Chaparral Rd

Serious injury traffic collision involving a pedestrian reported at North Scottsdale Road & East Chaparral Road in Scottsdale, AZ.

Units responding or on scene include: SFD SPD PMT Ambulance.

[Update] Scottsdale Fire Department officials tell us that SFD paramedics responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian at Chaparral and Scottsdale Road. A male patient (approximately 65-years-old) was struck by a vehicle crossing at the intersection. The patient has been taken to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Northbound Scottsdale Rd is closed from Camelback Rd to Chaparral Rd due to the serious incident. Please avoid the area.

[Update: 11:41 AM MST] SPD is reporting that the road is now open. Please drive safely

[Update: 3/5/2015] SPD officials tell us that yesterday at 8:48 AM MST Scottsdale Police responded to a traffic collision. In the incident a SUV, driven by a 24 year old male, was traveling north on Scottsdale Road just north of the intersection with Chaparral Road. A 76 year old male pedestrian left the east sidewalk of Scottsdale Rd in what appeared to be an attempt to cross Scottsdale Road. He stepped into the traffic way midblock and was struck by the SUV. The male pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries. Speed or impairment to not appear to be factors in the incident.
