Scottsdale Arizona News -- A Phoenix hotel was forced to evacuate Monday afternoon when a mattress in a third floor room caught on fire.

Phoenix and Scottsdale fire crews were called about 2:45 p.m. to the Courtyard by Marriott Scottsdale North at 17010 N. Scottsdale Road in Phoenix. When crews arrived, staff was evacuating the faculty and a light haze could be seen in the building, said Scott Walker of the Phoenix Fire Department.

Firefighters found a mattress burning in a room on the third floor that was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The fire sprinklers did their job and kept the fire under control, said Walker.

No one was injured, said Walker.

Guests and employees were evacuated to parking lots.

A guest was registered to the room, said Greg James, General Manager of the Courtyard by Marriott Scottsdale North.

The fire marshal let guests and staff back into the hotel rooms at about 7:30-8:00 p.m., said James.

No damage estimate was available.
