Triennial Aircraft Emergency Exercise Drill Today

Emergency crews are responding to 3400 E Sky Harbor Blvd at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport for a 3A HAZ Drill (2012 Triennial Exercise). Responding units include: E4, E8, E11, E16, E29, E141, E150, E161, E231, E272, R8, R11, R13, R29, P-955, C958, C957N, C957S, SQ8, L4, L276, LT11, LT181, BC2 BC5, BC6, SDC, CRV, HM4, SI272, AT19, BC19,E19, MS19, TRUCK1, BC2,BC5, BC6 and HM141. BC19 is command. The drill started at around 12:30 p.m. MST and and should finish around 2:30 p.m. MST.

According to Customer Service Manager, Alisa Nakashima-Smith, the federal government requires airports to conduct a full-scale emergency exercise once every three years. Participants include: Phoenix Aviation Department, Phoenix Fire, Phoenix Police, US Airways and other agencies.
