[Update: 1:07 PM MST] This morning, a 32-year-old transient male subject was found deceased at the Eldorado Aquatic and Fitness Center, 2301 N Miller Road.

This morning at approximately 12:30am a Scottsdale Police Department Officer on patrol in the area of Miller Road and Oak Street heard what he believed to be faint calls for help. Officers, after an extensive search, were finally able to determine the calls were coming from inside the locked Aquatic Center at Eldorado Park. Once inside the pool area it was determined that a male subject had entered the facility by climbing over the fence and then somehow crawled inside of the large cylindrical steel center support for the water slide super structure, becoming stuck. Officers and Fire personnel originally had limited verbal contact with the subject, but he soon became unresponsive and was tragically determined to be deceased. It then took several more hours to dismantle the structure to the point that the body could be recovered. The subject has been identified, but his name is being held pending notifications. The investigation is ongoing at this time and we will provide updates as they become available, according to the Scottsdale Police Department.

[Update: August 18, 2020 at 11:25 AM] The deceased in this case has been identified as 31 year-old Ryan Kelly. Cause of death to be determined by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner. There are no additional details to report, according to Sgt. B. Reynolds #1290, Public Information Office with the Scottsdale Police Department.
