Jeff Sprong with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said the MCSO Criminal Employment Squad is currently conducting an immigration operation at an El Mirage landscaping business.
MCSO said the Sheriff’s Illegal Immigration hotline received information that at least half of the people working in the business may be in the country illegally and using stolen identities to secure employment there.
Deputies have identified 26 subjects out of 52 employees who may be using falsified identification documents.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio is present at the landscape business this morning while the investigation is being conducted.
