Structure fire reported in the 7300 block of East Shoeman Ln in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Units responding include: E92 E602 E603 SQ278 L276 LT276 BC2 BC601.

[Update] SFD officials tell us that Scottsdale Fire/Medics responded to a report of a kitchen fire at Ricky’s Tacos and Beer at 7323 E Shoeman Ln. Fire/paramedic engine companies arrived within several minutes. Small grease fire. Fire was extinguished by the sprinkler system (one head activated and made a full extinguishment).

Scottsdale FD crews assisted the owner in removing water from the kitchen area along with clean-up process. This is standard procedure so local business owners can re-open to serve the citizens of Scottsdale in a timely manner.

Scottsdale Fire Department reminds residents: Properly installed and maintained automatic fire sprinkler systems help save lives. Because fire sprinkler systems react so quickly, they can dramatically reduce the heat, flames and smoke produced in a fire. Fire sprinklers have been around for more than a century, protecting commercial and industrial properties and public buildings, such as hotels and hospitals and high-rises throughout or city.

When sprinklers are present, the chances of dying in a fire are reduced by 50-75% and the average property loss per fire is cut by 50-66%, compared to fires where sprinklers are not present.
