Flooding Closes Havasupai

Havasupai Indian tribe officials have closed all access to Havasupai for at least one week due to flooding on the evening of July 11, 2018, according to a statement posted on the Tribes' website.

On July 11, 2018 at 6:57 PM MST, the National Weather Service in Flagstaff issued an Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Hualapai Hilltop, Supai and Havasupai Reservation until 930 PM MST. Heavy rain will cause small stream flooding in Havasupai Creek and the surrounding advisory area. 1" of rain has already fallen.

On Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 1:22 AM MST, the National Weather Service in Flagstaff issued a Flash Flood Warning for Coconino County in north central Arizona until 415 AM MST. At 120 AM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain along the Havasu Creek and Hualapai Canyon drainages, leading into Supai. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen in some areas, especially just south of Supai. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.
