Video: Fire Burns 120 Acres in McDowell Mountains

Air tankers, helicopters and ground crews are battling an 100-120 acre wildfire in the McDowell Mountains.

Fire officials say no homes or structures threatened at this time. More than 50 firefighters from Scottsdale and Phoenix are working to control the brush fire from the air and ground. Air tankers and helicopters are being used to drop water and retardant on the blaze.

Trails in the McDowell Mountain Preserve have been temporarily closed as a precaution.

Patriot Fire Update 4:45 PM: Currently about 75 firefighters from Scottsdale, Phoenix, BLM and State Fire on scene. Currently estimated at 200 acres.

One firefighter was transported to the hospital for a heat-related illness.

Fire Investigators have determined the fire to be accidental. It started at a construction site in a residential area and extended into the preserve.
