Four Car Crash on Hayden Road


Two people were hospitalized after a four car collision on Hayden Road Tuesday night.

The Scottsdale Police, Scottsdale Fire and PMT Ambulance responded to the intersection of Camelback Road and Hayden Rd at around 6:15 p.m. on Nov. 29 for a reported collision

According to police, vehicle`s #1-4 were travelling southbound on Hayden Rd at the 4600 block (just north of Camelback Rd). Vehicle #4 (black Cadillac) was in the curb through lane, vehicle #2 (white Ford) was behind vehicle #4 and vehicle #1 (white dodge) was behind vehicle #2. Vehicle #3 (white BMW) was travelling in the middle through lane and made an unsafe lane change into the curb through lane, directly behind vehicle #4 and in front of vehicle #2. As soon as vehicle #3 made the lane change traffic in front of vehicle #4 began rapidly slowing. Vehicle`s #4, #3 and #2 were able to come to a stop and avoid a collision. Vehicle #1 was not able to stop in time, resulting in a rear-end collision with vehicle #2. The force of the collision caused vehicle #2 to rear-end vehicle #3 and vehicle #3 to rear-end vehicle #4.

Police say driver #1 was cited for 28-701A - Failure to Control Speed to Avoid a Collision. Driver #3 was cited for 28-729.1 - Unsafe Lane Change. An independent witness confirmed stated events.

The two passengers in the Ford were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
