Thanksgiving Kitchen Fire Causes $5000 Damage to Scottsdale House


A fire Thanksgiving morning in Scottsdale caused about $5,000 in damages.

Scottsdale and Tempe firefighters responded at around 10:30 a.m. to a one story single family home in the 2300 block of North Granite Reef Road.

The 1,528 sq ft Village Grove 11 home is valued at $153,700, according to public records.

Fire Department Battalion Chief Ryan Freeburg tells Scottsdale Arizona News the fire started in a microwave oven. They were preparing stuff in the microwave in preparation for Thanksgiving.

Freeburg said Damage was confined to the kitchen area.

No injuries reported.
