Mountain Rescue - McDowell Sonoran Preserve

Mountain rescue reported on the backside of the the McDowell Sonoran Preserve in Scottsdale, AZ.

Units on scene include: E610, C957S, DEPLOY, BC602, Phoenix Firebird 10 (FRBD10) and SCTP00.


SFD officials tell us in an email that Phoenix Firebird 10 and the Scottsdale Technical Rescue Team coordinated a hoist extrication to safely remove a 28 year old male patient from the back side of the McDowell’s in the preserve area. Scottsdale Fire paramedics determined that the patient was dehydrated and needed assistance getting off the mountain.

Phoenix Firebird 10 transported the patient to the hospital.

The Scottsdale Fire Department reminds everyone that enjoys the valley hiking trails to: stay hydrated (carry water with you), wear sun screen, wear proper attire including good trail shoes, hike with a buddy, carry a cell phone, remind a family member or friend what your route of travel will be and view the daily weather forecast prior to your journey.
