Portion Of McDowell Sonoran Preserve Closed Due To McDowell Fire

The south area of the Scottsdale McDowell Sonoran Preserve will be closed to all public access until further notice.

Due to a lightning caused brush fire in the neighboring County Park, out of an abundance of caution, the south area Scottsdale McDowell Sonoran Preserve Trailheads will be closed today while officials assess the situation.

This includes Sunrise, Ringtail, Lost Dog, Gateway and Tom's Thumb Trailheads. North Trailheads are still available. Note that there is no fire burning inside the Preserve boundaries at this time, according to City of Scottsdale officials.
