Scottsdale Fire Department first aid run log (bike, cart, and walking teams) at the 2016 Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, AZ:

02/01/16: 5 calls for service, resulting in 1 patient that was transported to the hospital.

02/02/16: 7 calls for service, resulting in 3 patients that were transported to the hospital.

02/03/16: 8 calls for service, resulting in 3 patients that were transported to the hospital.

02/04/16: 19 calls for service, resulting in 4 transports to the hospital.

02/05/16: 28 calls for service, resulting in 2 transports to the hospital. ** 5 treated at alternative care site.**

02/06/16: 35 calls for service, resulting in 6 transports to the hospital. ** 10 treated at alternative care site. **

02/07/16: 16 calls for service, 3 resulting in transports to the hospital.

** If people do drink too much, Scottsdale fire has an alternative care site near the course where they can get treatment and sober up. Having that option reduces the number of people transported to the hospital, which also decreases the impact on regular services.

The most frequent calls for firefighters and paramedics were weather related — dehydration, overexposure to the sun — or injuries that result from falling or tripping on an uneven, unpadded surface.
